Wiper motor park switch installation?
You know, this part looks like an easy fit...but it isn't! It should just slot in and be retained by the clip on the bottom...I have a new one and despite my best efforts, it isn't installed and I now have two additional problems. The plastic body itself is now starting to separate...and the clip underneath also now comes off/detaches. Is there an easier way to install this infernal little swine of plastic? This should be easy...Peter.

electrical maladies
Do your windscreen wipers park by themselves? If not replace the wiper motor park-switch (located on the rear of the motor unit) because when it fails it can cause a short circuit and blow the main fuse box fuse your having problems with.

The fault could also be with the wiper motor park-switch and that's mounted behind the wiper motor. Mini Spares sells new park-switches, plus a replacement wiper plug and part of the loom if required.

Do your windscreen wipers park themselves. Because a faulty short circuiting wiper motor park-switch can mess up the gauges as it runs on the same circuit.

Just replace the wiper motor park-switch for now. Its that plastic unit attached to the rear of the wiper motor. You can also buy a replacement park-switch plug and part of the wiring loom from Mini Spares if required.
Either way a faulty park-switch can cause all manor of electrical faults.

Replace the wiper motor park-switch as it can and does cause short circuiting when it fails. You'll find it located on the rear of the wiper motor itself.
Mini Spares also supply a replacement park-switch plug and part of the loom if required.

Youll end up doing it atleast once more aswell, as, as soon as the wiper arms go back on they decide to park in a different place to where the wiper motor stops without them being on,,if that makes sense

help!!!! my wipers refuse to work!!!!!
i had a similar problem on my clubby, it turned out to be the connector plug (i think its called a parking plug) that the wires connect to the connects to the wiper motor, on mine this was clogged with dirt and some how water got in, so my wipers would only work on fast speed from the indicator/wiper stem, i had to find the wire that runs the motor on slow speed and tap into it and put a switch in on the dash, this is a temp measure until i can afford a new plug(lol), mark

Wipers don't return
could be what i think is called the park switch, it's positioned on the wiper motor and the wires are connected to it from the ind/wiper stem on the steering colum and the wires from the wiper motor connect to the other side of the switch, i had trouble with my wipers they would only work on high speed from the colum because this switch was full of crap and water, i know my problem was different to yours but it might be worth looking at because i am lead to believe this thing is a big part of the operating of the wipers

Windscreen wiper motor
By the sounds of it this could just be that the park switch ( a little plastic switch that clips to the back of the motor) is faulty. This is quite common and would cause the wipers not to return to the start on the flick wipe. Could also cause them not to turn off. Try replacing that before condemning the motor.

Wiper motor
Actually, it sounds as though the self-parking switch may be misbehaving. This is the gadget that keeps power to the motor until it hits the right point, then it switches off. If that is stuck, then the wipers will run for ever.

Intermittent Wiper Not Working
Hi,
The self park is regulated by a small white plastic unit clipped onto the motor above the gear/cam housing. It has a small plastic peg that only allows the circuit to be broken once the power has been removed by the switch and the wipers are in the 'at rest' position. These only take about 8-10 years to wear out and are fairly easy to replace. you need to get a new park switch from a lucas parts supplier though.
try this if it's the same as yours. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MINI-WIPER-MOTOR-PARK-SWITCH-GENUINE-LUCAS-PART-/170651259333
my guess is that the wiring for the intermittent control aslo goes through this so may be affecting it. the contacts do get quite cruddy so try reseating the connector first before buying new parts.
i don't understand the query about spring loaded setting. this is a flick wipe that should give you one wipe only and again, if the contacts or switch are shot then i wouldn't expect it to function properly.
Hope that helps, Barry

If your windscreen wipers had stopped parking by themselves before packing in, then replace the wiper motor park-switch now.
Mini Spares also supply a new wiper motor socket/plug and part of the loom too, just in case the original has rusted to bits.
There's just a chance that the washers aren't working because they run on the same main fuse as the wipers. When the park-switch fails it can create a short circuit which either causes the gauges (such as the rev counter or fuel gauge) to misread, or for the main fuse to keep blowing once the ignition is turned on.
I've heard that in extreme cases it's caused an electrical fire. I don't know if that's true though?
Anyway the 3rd fuse down in the main fuse box (with a 25amp fuse) is what controls the items you're having problems with. So have all these items failed: - 'Heater Blower Motor, Windscreen Wipers, Washer Motor & Instruments'?
There's also the possiblitly that the fuse box is to blame, because the rear contacts get very rusty with age.

You don't need to drill any holes as there should be a little blanking plate covering the threaded inserts (hole) in the vicinity of the wing mirror mounting area, like where the mirror is fitted on the drivers side.
So just carefully flick that blanking plate off with a small screwdriver.
As for the speedo and rev counter. Well I'd check the main fuse box first. Then there's the speedo cable and if your wipers don't park by themselves, then replace the wiper motor park-switch (located on the rear of the wiper motor) as that runs on the same circuit as the gauges and it can cause the main fuse to blow, or gauges to misread or in extreme cases an electrical fire when it shorts out.

Park switch
Sounds like the park switch has packed up, its mounted on the side of the wiper motor, part number 520160A. Cheers

Wipers dont park,, why??
Probably because your wiper motor park-switch has failed so get it replaced now as they can cause short circuits in the wiring loom (happened to me anyway).
Anyway it's the little white plastic unit fitted to the rear of the wiper motor and is relatively easy to replace too.

FUEL GAUGE
First of all you can connect the 2 fuel tank spade connectors together with the aid of a paper clip and it does work because I've tried it on my Mini. Just make sure the ignition is switched on and then you're gauge should read full.
As for the gauge, well you won't have a voltage stabiliser attached to the rear of you're clocks because all post 1985 Minis got afflicted with the dreaded Nippon Seiki instruments instead of the lovely old Smiths type.
So the voltage stabilising is done within the gauges themselves and if they've packed in then they will probably require replacing as I don't think they can easily be repaired. Unless of course the company "Speedy Cables" can help you out?
Anyway try the tank sender paper clip trick first and then report back. Oh and do you're windscreen wipers park by themselves when their switched off? If they don't, replace the wiper motor park-switch (located behind the wiper motor), because that can cause electrical problems on the same circuit as the instruments and that includes misreading gauges too.
